Position:      Accounting Assistant

Supervisor:  Assistant Controller

Classification:  Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

Summary Description:

The Accounting Assistant is responsible for providing accounting and clerical support the Accounting Department.

Key Accountabilities:

Accounts Payable

  • Gather and verify invoices and check requests received from vendors for ASI and other companies
  • Receive, sort, code & input invoices into CMiC
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Maintain/update vendor files
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Enter and code credit card transactions
  • Reconcile credit card statements

Accounts Receivable

  • Enter job budgets and revisions; prep job info for revenue recognition monthly
  • Log and post incoming payments
  • Review and maintain AR aging report – apply payments, research discrepancies, send report out to applicable managers

Other Duties:

  • Assist with month end closing
  • Provide support documentation for year-end audits
  • Gather all temp employee labor hours and compile them into the annual OSHA report
  • Assist with temp employee rosters for all ASI projects to avoid overpayment of fees
  • Send out and request W9s, Vendor Set Up forms, Certificates of Insurance
  • Open, sort and distribute mail daily
  • File maintenance – file, shred and organize accounting files
  • Other duties as assigned

Team Work – works cooperatively with management and accounting team to create efficient work flow 

Collaboration – works collaboratively with all members of Affordable Solar

Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • At least 1 year of accounting experience required
  • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours depending on current priorities
  • Ability to pass a background check
