Project Details

Escuela del Sol Montessori contracted with Affordable Solar in early 2020. Initially the project was going to be a combination roof mount and carport but due to sponsorship, the school was only able to commit to the roof mount. With the help of a PPA contract with Affordable Solar, Escuela del Sol was able to install 40 kW of roof top solar to offset 80% of the main building’s electric energy usage.

The school held an all-day event to present the solar system and monitoring portal to its students. They are excited to engage them in first-hand interaction to the consumption of the school and compare it to the production of the solar system. They will use the monitoring portal for students to keep track of the system while also using it to pique interest and learning! Looking forward, Escuela del Sol is pursuing options to fund the carport canopy and completing their vision to offset the schools electric load as much as possible. Project online: Fall 2021.
