Affordable Solar designed, supplied, and constructed Wal-Mart’s largest-to-date 1.2 MW DC (993.6kW AC), solar carport project, located in Truth or Consequences, NM. Affordable Solar coordinated the work closely with Wal- Mart’s energy team and local store management to ensure that installation activities did not disrupt the complex operations of the store. The solar project was completed under a tight schedule with three separate phases of installation, requiring mobilizing and de-mobilizing on the site for each of the three phases, while maintaining adequate ingress and egress to the store for Wal-Mart customers. The system included the installation of a LED lighting system designed and installed by Affordable’s team to provide better visibility and night security for the store.
The solar system consists of 3,888 Jinko Solar 305W polycrystalline modules, mounted on the carports built on site as part of the project construction. The PV array feeds 36 ABB TRIO 27.6kW AC, carport-mounted inverters, for a total output capacity of 993.6kW AC. The solar system will generate approximately 2,200,000 kWh of clean electricity annually. The PV system is interconnected to the City of Truth or Consequences’ municipal electric grid and further bolsters Wal-Mart’s lead in the adoption of on-site solar energy amongst all US-corporations.
