In 2016, Affordable Solar was awarded by AES, EPC contracts for solar projects at three Amazon facilities, including the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Patterson, California. The 3.3 MW DC (2.4 MW AC) rooftop solar project installed on one of the rooftops of this Amazon facility is of the largest rooftop solar projects in the US. Affordable Solar coordinated its work closely with various project stakeholders, including AES and Amazon team members, to ensure that the project execution did not disrupt the very complex operations of the Amazon facility and that the final product meets or exceeds their needs.
The engineering adjustments and the installation of the solar system were completed under a very tight schedule in the last quarter of 2016. This solar system consists of 10,336 Flextronics 325W solar modules secured on the roof using the PanelClaw HD mounting system. The solar photovoltaic array feeds 68 Chint 36 kW AC roof-mounted inverters, for a total output capacity of 2,448 kW AC. The solar system will generate approximately 4,800,000 kWh of clean electricity annually, and is interconnected to Turlock Irrigation District’s utility grid. This project demonstrates Amazon’s continuing commitment to reducing the environmental footprint of their facilities and operations.
The solar system at Amazon’s Patterson facility will generate approximately 4,800,000 kWh of clean electricity annually and locally, equivalent to powering 540 average homes.
